Each Dragon Begins as a Mystery

In my mother's garden, there are always plenty of empty Roman snail shells to be found each year. I usually paint a few of them after completing a larger piece - it feels like a gentle way to unwind. The tiny size and delicate surface naturally slow me down, inviting stillness and attention. Each shell often makes me more than 10 hours to complete.  I don't use reference images here. I simply keep painting until something begins to emerge - something that surprises me, that holds beauty, wonder, or even a sense of magic.

Lately, different kinds of dragons have started to come to life on these little shells. It's always exciting and fascinating to watch these tiny "creatures" unfold before my eyes - some turn out beautiful, some adorable, and some.... a little fearsome! 😀

The most important part is that I never know what the dragon will look like when I begin. I only decide whether it will be a water, fire, earth, metal, or floral dragon - the rest is a surprise. 🙂
